Hey friends!!
Happy Friday! We are getting dangerously close to the weekend and I can't wait for it to go by so we can get into next week, because next week is the official IVY Studio Launch Party.
Running a company can be pretty stressful and the pressure can be overwhelming at times. I'm a pretty easy going guy, but I've found myself in a funky spot a few times in the last few months. Since the beginning of this year we basically re-built IVY from the ground up and that includes t shirt and other merch designs, creating a new logo, defining our branding and packaging, dreaming up and building signature boards, building a website, a road trip to Nashville to shoot product. Figuring out pricing, shipping, returns, and a million other things. Oh and by the way, most of which was done while I was still living in Thailand. I moved home in March and we launched IVY in April!
Since April I've been swamped creating content that we care about and means something to us, I've done trips to Iceland, Chicago and California. I've been building boards, we moved our company out of a tiny home in the country into an amazing studio space in NE Minneapolis. We have built out that entire space in a month and a half and that brings me to right now - The other night Corey and I painted our logo on the wall and all of a sudden everything that was a blur the last couple months cleared up. I regained vision for IVY and our space and what we want to be as a company. It's so easy to be distracted by all the things that it takes to run a company that it's easy for the real reason you do it go get a bit...blurry. The past few days what IVY is and has always been has never been more clear, and I'd love to share that with you.
IVY isn't just about a longboard.
It's about a community. It's about art.
It's about staying up way too late and bombing your favorite hill with your best friends.
IVY is about being a dreamer and a doer.
IVY is about stories and celebrating people.
IVY is about relating to every single person we come into contact with.
In this life you're allowed to be whoever you want to be. My hope is that IVY would push you to be the purest version of whoever that is.
IVY exists to walk beside people and not in front of them.
I have this idea that IVY is and will continue to be a feeling and I want that feeling to inspire, encourage and motivate. I hope it inspires you to do that things that terrify you, encourages you to be the person you were born to be and motivates you to do all things with your entire heart.
I am eternally grateful for the people that have shaped IVY into what it is today, and every single person reading this post is one of those people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
- Steve Weigel
I want to give a massive shout out to my business partner and friend Corey Bracken. This dude is an absolute legend and I couldn't have done any of this without him.
Mad props to Lindsay Schwartz for all the design work she's done, making our merch line look super dope, and creating an amazing logo!
I want to thank Zoey Jean, Tyler Leiby, Justen Grenell and all the other photographers who have given us their time to capture our products so well.
